Awareness On Intensified Diarrhea Control Stressed In Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: Director of Family Welfare Dr A Yirang has called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to ensure success of the Intensified Diarrhea Control (IDC) while addressing the State level steering committee meeting on IDC fortnight here at Banquet Hall on Friday. The meeting was attended by all the development partners – Education Department, Women and Child Development (WCD) and PHED Emphasizing on creating awareness at the ground level, Yirang said that awareness activities on IDC should be a continuous process and we should strive to sustain it throughout the year to achieve the objective of “zero child death due to child hood diarrhea”. He said the Health Department should work in close coordination with PHED to ensure water borne disease like diarrhea is prevented and WCD should take care in providing right nutrition to the child and help in establishing zinc corner in every anganwadi centres and the Education Department can play a crucial role in demonstrating hand washing to prevent diarrhea.

Director District Health Society (DHS) Dr M Lego underscoring the importance of Asha and AWW, urged all mobilize them in best possible way and advocated for a door-to-door interpersonal communication to create awareness about diarrhea.

Meanwhile, nodal officer child health Tana Natung, elaborating on the IDC activities to be undertaken during the fortnight, informed that the main activities during the fortnight include generating awareness activities, diarrhea management services like provision of ORS Zinc Corner, ORS distribution and maximum promotion of hand washing technique, sanitation and safe drinking water.
