Awareness On Skin Health Cover 11,000 Km In 60 Days

GUWAHATI: The Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL), which is the second largest dermatologists’ association in the world, is working on a project known as ‘Skin Rath’. It is an education programme, which will cover 11,000 km in 60 days and 18 states, including Assam. A vehicle with LED display of educational videos, pamphlets and other educational materials will travel all over India. It reached Guwahati on February 9, 2019.

The Northeast branch of IADVL aims at removing stigmas related to diseases like Leprosy and Vitiligo, curbing the practice of skin specialists with fake degrees and creating awareness about the rampant use of over-the-counter steroid creams that cause more damage than cure. The Rath is going to visit Gauhati Commerce College, Cotton College, Handique College, B Barooh College and SB Deorah College on February 10 and MNCH, Panbazaar, GMCH, ESIC Hospital and Brindaban Garden at Zoo Tiniali on February 11.
