GORESWAR, March 21: An awareness meeting for the cluster artisans was organized recently at Baredola village under Singalpara Gram Panchayat and Rangiya subdivision with Arabinda Deka in the chair. Also a brief iugural ceremony was held and formally iugurated by the chief guest of the function, Bhabesh Kalita, MLA of Rangiya LAC.
On the occasion, a day-long programme was held and conducted by the invited resource persons from various governmental departments. MLA Bhabesh Kalita in his iugural speech stated the main aim of the programme was to uplift the handicrafts artisans of the Baredola Bamboo Basketry Cluster (BBBC) initiated under the Ambedkar Hasta Silpa Vikash Yoja (AHVY) scheme under the Ministry of Textiles sanctioned recently.
Under this project, 600 artisans will receive necessary support for development of their craft and uplift of their socio-economic conditions through a cluster approach. It will eventually see the intervention taken up for the benefit of the BBBC artisans of Baredola, Singerpara, Kendua, Outol, Jayantipur and Sahan villages under Bihdiya Jajiko Development Block office of Rangiya subdivision.
The resource persons of various departments of the State Government participated in the programme as Munindra Bordoloi, SDO Rangiya subdivision , Dipankar Goswami , Nikhil Chandra Das, Dhiraj Kumar, Pankaj Kumar Das, Tubul Deka,Rajib Saikia, Arabinda Deka, Manju Deka, Girish Deka, Dhanjit Deka and many others.
