Dibrugarh, July 5: An awareness training programme for the farming community was organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, based in Kordoibam, recently. The capacity-building programme, themed on ‘How to Enhance Farm Income’, was attended by around 60 farmers, and focused on the agricultural community of the Moran and Khowang areas. Addressing the gathering, course director of the programme and an agricultural expert, Hemchandra Saikia touched upon several important topics, including modern technology to be adopted, location-specific farming, diversification of crops and market-oriented farming for improving the farmers’ profits. He, at the same time, underscored the significance of soil health card, integrated farming, value addition through food processing and benefits of turning to horticultural farming.

Saikia also asked the farmers to take advantage of the government schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sichayi Yojana.
