Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Remembered on his 43rd Death Anniversary

GUWAHATI, Aug 17: The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Guwahati observed National Mourning Day commemorating the 43rd death anniversary of Bangabandhu famed Father of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 16 in its office premise here.

During the event, a discussion program was moderated focusing on the struggling political career of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. At the same time, messages received from President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh were read out and special prayer was offered for the departed soul and his family members who were brutally killed in 1975.

In the meantime, a one minute of silence was observed in remembrance of India’s former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Holy versus were recited from Geeta, Quran and Bible at the program.

At the concluding remark, the Assistant High Commissioner Dr Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur chronicled the success stories of Bangabandhu which he termed as the main cause for the defeated groups of liberation war to become jealous. “It was an international conspiracy where communal and vested interest groups played the main role in plotting the heinous killing of 15 August, 1975,” Monsur remarked. Approximately 50 Bangladesh students studying in different universities of Assam attended the program.
