Barak Valley Shines In HS Examinations

SILCHAR: Results of matriculation examinations of Silchar and Barak Valley were not at all to the mark. However, the Higher Secondary results which were declared today have a different story to tell. Three students from Silchar and one from Karimganj secured positions. Ashim Sarkar of Vivekananda Junior College secured the 1st position in the Commerce stream by scoring 474 marks out of 500. He secured letter marks in all the subjects – English, Accountancy, Bengali, Economics and Business Studies. The same college bagged another position in the same stream. Brinda Roy stood 9th and also secured 5 letters in all her 5 subjects – English, Accountancy, Bengali, Economics and Business Studies.

Brinda got 455 marks out of 500. The performance of Daisy Pathak, another position holder, of Silchar Government Boys Higher Secondary School, deserves special mention. Daisy Pathak who is from the Science stream bagged the 2nd position and broke the myth that only students of private schools can fare better in the examinations. Daisy got 6 letters in all and scored 477 marks out of 500. She got letter marks in English, Alternative English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Harsha Golchha of Karimganj Junior College of Science jointly secured the 7th position with two others. He got letters in English, Alternative English, Accountancy, Economics, BUST and CMST.
