BDAD to observe Intertiol Deaf Day

Bongaigaon, September 21: Bongaigaon District Association of Deaf (BDAD) will observe the 59th Intertiol Deaf Day on September 25.

Tapan Sutradhar, general secretary of BDAD, said that deaf persons from six districts of Assam, including Bongaigaon, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Goalpara and Barpeta, would take part in this celebration. “The objective of celebrating the Intertiol Deaf Day is to create awareness among the deaf people and also among the other people about the rights and honour of the deaf people in the society. Our programme of the day will include flag hoisting, procession for peace, several competitions, cultural programme by deaf people and open meeting. Several noted persons of Bongaigaon including Biswajit Pegu, Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Sanjit Krish, Chirang Superintendent of Police, Dipu Choudhury, chairman of Bongaigaon Municipality, and Prabhat Baishb, eminent social worker, will be present in the open meeting,” he said.
