B'desh school children visit Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Oct 2: As a part of goodwill gesture and to build a friendly relation between two border guarding forces, the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), a group of 30 Bangladesh school children alongwith officials arrived at ICP Dwaki  on Sunday morning.

After the warm welcome, they were taken to Asia’s cleanest village Mawlynnong village (Sundergaon). While visiting Root bridge at Ri-wai before arriving at the Frontier Headquarters of BSF Umpling, all the visitors were thrilled to see the tural beauty of Meghalaya.

During their stay in the state from 2nd to 5th October, they will be visiting some famous tourist attraction of Meghalaya around Shillong and interact with the students of some schools. The main motive behind their visit is to get well acquainted with socio-culture, education and social harmony with the neighbouring country.

This visit will definitely eble Bangladesh students to know about rich cultural heritage of Meghalaya.

Short visits by individual children or groups of children to another state, encourage local knowledge of a foreign culture by funding artistic and cultural activities. In reciprocation, the BSF school children will also visit Bangladesh by the end of this month. The visit of Bangladesh students has started new chapter of friendship and trust between both the border guarding forces in Meghalaya state.
