Islamabad, May 23: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that the references against him by the country’s anti-corruption body, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), are “byproducts” of him filing a high treason case against former President Pervez Musharraf. The NAB had registered three cases of corruption and money laundering against Sharif and his family members in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Panama Papers case in 2017. The PML-N leader said that the references as well as the 2014 sit-ins against his government were reciprocal punishment for him taking legal action against Musharraf despite being warned not to do so, Geo News reported.
