Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) To Field Four Candidates For By Polls

GUWAHATI: After the declaration of poll results on May 23, 2019, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sweeping in a landslide victory, by polls for four Assembly Constituencies in Assam has been confirmed.

Three MLAs (Member of Legislative Assembly) from Bharatiya Janata Party and one Congress MLA emerged triumphant during the polls this year in the state. BJP Rangapara MLA Pallab Lochan Das won from Tezpur constituency, BJP Sonari MLA Topon Kumar Gogoi from Jorhat constituency, BJP Ratabari MLA Kripanath Mallah from Karimganj constituency, while Congress Jania MLA Abdul Khaleque won from Barpeta constituency.

This has caused a vacancy in the Rangapara, Sonari, Ratabari and Jania constituencies. The Bharatiya Janata Party is already in preparation to fill the spots in all the four constituencies that are up for by poll. According to a BJP source, three of the constituencies are already in the bag for Bharatiya Janata Party and through by poll, they will fight to win in all four constituencies. “At present, we have not made any decisions as to who we will field for candidature, however, the queue is already lengthening for tickets from the party”, the source confirmed. “A candidate panel for each constituency will be sent to the High Command, under whose directives, a final decision will be taken”, the source affirmed.
