Bhupen Hazarika memorial cultural building foundation stone laid

Bokajan, January 3: The Karbi Anglong district unit of Asom Sanskritic Mahasabha laid the foundation pillar of a 50-foot long Dr Bhupen Hazarika memorial cultural building on Sunday morning.

The function started with the lighting of the lamp followed by floral tribute at the memorial statue of the music maestro.

Manoranjan Sen, president of Bokakhat Sanskritic Mahasabha, presided over the meeting and spoke on the life of Dr Hazarika and his role in uniting the people with his music. He also remembered Dr Hazarika’s untiring efforts and contributions towards music and cultural developments of the State.

The foundation pillar was laid in the presence of many dignitaries including Arun Hazarika, retired Joint Director, Department of Economics & Statistics, galand, noted music composer- linibala Hazarika, singer-Pankaj Jyoti Baruah and Lunseng Aoa, noted artist Bipin Chandra Hazarika, rendra th Hazarika, Dibyadhar Shyam, secretary, Karbi Anglong district Sanskritic Mahasabha, social worker Dulal Dutta, among others.

Addressing the gathering, Arun Hazarika highlighted the life and works of the legendary singer and said that it was difficult to scale this great doyen of music who was a time in himself.

In the programme, a noted businessman with base in neighbouring galand -Md Firoz Alam Khan, announced complete fincial assistance at setting up the memorial building.
