‘Bi Species Modern Abattoir is a delayed project’

SHILLONG, Jan 29: The construction of the Rs 7.60 crore Abattoirs at Demthring in West Jaintia Hills District is progressing and the latest monthly report by the department of Animal Husbandry and Veteriry Department showed a 75 per cent progress.  

The abattoir also known as Bi Species Modern Abattoir is a delayed project, according to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the state Assembly, Chairman Paul Lyngdoh

He told reporters, “Till December 21, 2016 the progress has been over 75 per cent. Prior to the intervention of the PAC, the contractor has withdrawn the mobilization amount amounting Rs 1.80 crore in 2001.”

 “We summoned the officials of the department directing them to submit a monthly progress report. The latest report on December 21 showed 75 per cent progress,” he added.

Lyngdoh said the delay in completion of the project showed that the progress is very less asserting that there was lack of seriousness on the part of the department and the contractor to complete the project.
