Birth centery programme of Dilak Dowarah concludes

Dibrugarh, Jan 24: The closing ceremony of the birth centery of famed dramatist and actor, Dilak Dowarah was held at tya Mandir, Amolapatty. The lighting of the lamp was done by the actress of the yesteryears, Swargajyoti Borah. This was followed by a performance of Borgeet by Aarifa Begum and playing of flute by 85-year old Dr. Dayand Duwarah. On the occasion, Jyotirmoy Baruah sang songs of the acclaimed parody singer, Munin Dutta.

The most attractive part of the event was the screening of a documentary titled Tilock - The Mark of Inspiration. The documentary, apart from showing snippets of the town’s glorious history, also shed light on certain famous artists of Dibrugarh whose mes were fast getting erased from the public memory. The 53-minute long documentary also highlighted the invaluable contribution of Dowarah in the field of art and culture. The event that was anchored by dramatist, Ashim Kumar Sharma also witnessed Shankar Chaliha performing the songs of the famous singer, Jyotish Bhattacharya. A souvenir med Haku (The Bridge) was also launched on the occasion.
