Hailakandi: Bishnu Rabha Divas was observed in schools across Hailakandi district on Thursday. The day was celebrated at Lakshirbond HS Madrassa in a befitting manner in presence of large students and teachers. The programme started with lighting of candle and garlanding of portrait of the Kolaguru. Senior teacher Jahir Ahmed Choudhury discussed about the invaluable contribution of Bishnu Prasad Rabha to Assamese culture and literature. Arabic Teacher Kamrul Islam Laskar gave a narrative about the life and works of the radiant personality. He also recited a poem on Bishnu Prasad Rabha, setting a perfect ambience.

A quiz competition was held among the students of Classes 9 and 10 on Bishnu Rabha’s life and contribution to Assamese culture.

At ICMC High School, senior teacher Nalini Kumar Tamuli threw light on the multifaceted artist and revolutionary singer of Assam.

Adarsha Vidyalaya, Aloicherra celebrated the day by paying rich tribute to the cultural icon and revolutionary figure. Teachers Dwtimoni Devi and Sangita Goswami sang the beautiful creation of the Kolaguru ‘Mor kobitar chanda lagi’.

The day was celebrated at KTC Girls’ High School, Panchgram Town High School, Nityanandapur High School, Chiporsangon Public High School, GCRBM High School, CMHS School, SAM High School, PK Girls’ HS School, GSM HS School, Hailakandi Town High Madrassa, SK Deb High School and JCHS School.

BILASIPARA: Under the aegis of Dr. B R Ambedkar Bhawan Management Committee the 50th death anniversary of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha was observed on Thursday with a day long programme. In this connection in the morning the portrait of Bishnu Rabha was garlanded by Dayal Paul, president of the Ambedkar Bhawan Management Committee while Dr. K.L. Das, secretary of the management committee lit the ceremonial lamp followed by offering of floral tribute by Kalyan Chakraborty, secretary of Red Cross Society, Bilasipara.

In the evening open session was held with Dayal Paul in the chair. Nantoo Sarker and his party sang opening song while Dr. K.L. Das delivered welcome address. Thereafter Hridayananda, former principal of Bilasipara Public HS School and Dr. Haricharan Das, librarian of Bilasipara College spoke on the life and teaching of Bishnu Rava. Goutam Choudhury released the second issue of child magazine ‘PAKHILA.’ Apart from this a good number of dignitaries having contribution in the field of education, culture etc were also felicitated.

GAURISAGAR: Along with the rest of the State, Kendriya Rabha Divas was observed at Sivasagar District Library under the aegis of Sanskritic Maha Sabha (SMS), Sivasagar District Committee and Kendriya Bishnu Rabha Smriti Divas Udjapan Samiti. The day-long programme started with hoisting of flag by Hema Dutta, President, SMS, District Committee followed by plantation of saplings by Somesh Deka, President, Sivasagar District Journalist Association (SDJA). Later Hemo Chetia lighted the ceremonial lamp before the portraits of Jyoti Prasad and Bishnu Prasad. Thereafter a seminar on ‘The relevance of Bishnu Rabha’s ideology in present day context’ was held. Protim Sarmah, Associate Professor, Dikhowmukh College delivered her speech. More than 20 artistes performed Rabha sangeet and recited his poems.

GOLAGHAT: Along with other parts of Assam, Bishnu Jyoti Vidyapith of Hatiakhowa under Golaghat district observed the Bishnu Rabha Divas with a day long programme on Thursday. The programme started with offering of floral tribute and banti prajjalan by the principal-in-charge Debajit Baruah and Dulal Kalita. The students, guardian and attendants paid tribute to cultural icon Bishnu Prasad Rabha. The students of Vidyapith remembered the contribution and activities of Bishnu Prasad Rabha. The students performed the ever green songs of Bishnu Prasad Rabha. Later social worker Arindom Gogoi distributed books to each and every students. Miss Universe title winner Doly Kurmi was felicitated with japi, gamocha, citation letters by various organization of the locality. The director of the institute Prabin Das delivered a special note to the students about contribution of Bishnu Prasad Rabha to the Assamese cultural and society.

DHEKIAJULI: The 50th death anniversary of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha was observed in a solemn function organized at the Netaji Vidyamandir High School with a day long programme on Thursday. The day-long programme was held under the aegis of Dhekiajuli Senior Citizens’ Association with the cooperation of different organizations of Dhekiajuli subdivision. The function began with lighting of the ceremonial lamps in remembrance of the Kalaguru by noted artiste Maheswar Sharma. Several prominent personalities attended the day-long function and paid their rich tributes to the great icon of humanism and culture of Assam. An open session was held under the president ship of Ramesh Chandra Borah, social worker and former headmaster of Dhekiajuli Boys’ High School, and it was attended by Dr Sukdev Adhikari, Principal of LOKD College, Pradip Kumar Nath, former president of Sonitpur District Sahitya Sobha and various dignitaries. Rabha Divas was also observed in the premises of Sonitpur Dhatri Sewa Samity where ASDM skill trainees and the management committee members by lighting the ceremonial lamps.
