Biswanath Congress protests against price hike

Biswanath Chariali, June 7: The Biswanath District Congress Committee registered a strong protest on Wednesday against high price rise and other issues involving common people in the country such as black money, suicide of farmers, growing unemployment, threat to the integrity of the nation, and sexual assault on women and children.

A procession was taken out on the occasion throughout the town from the Congress office to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Hundreds of Congress workers coming from Behali, Gohpur, Kalabari and Borgang took part in the protest. The protesters shouted slogans against the governments at the Centre and at the State.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Borah led the protest rally along with Biswanath district chief Dilip Kumar Baruah who travelled in a bullock cart. Later, the protesters submitted a memorandum to the President of India and the Governor of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath district. The rally was also attended by APCC secretary Premlal Ganju, Brajen Handique, APCC spokesman Sanju Baruah, Tushar Borah and others.
