BJP Assam Pradesh Hits Out At Congress & All Assam Minority Students’ Union

GUWAHATI: The BJP Assam Pradesh has hit back at the Congress and the All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) for their respective roles.

In separate statements issued to the press on Monday, State BJP’s spokesperson Rupam Goswami came down heavily on Congress’ Nagaon MP Pradyut Bordoloi for his allegations against Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on coal syndicate in the State. Bordoloi alleged in Tinsukia on Sunday that “the Margherita coal syndicate is going on, and it is being controlled right from the Chief Minister’s Office”.

Reacting to the allegation sharply, Goswami said: “If Bordoloi has evidences on coal syndicate, let him make them public, or deposit them to the CMO or take legal help or go to the police. The steps taken by the Chief Minister against corruption have made the Congress speak incoherently. Corruptions were countless during the Congress’ 15-year rule in the State. Action against corruption is being taken by the BJP government.” In another statement, the party came down heavily on the AAMSU. At a recent public meeting AAMSU president, Rejaul Karim was on record saying that the names of around 40 lakh Muslims would fail make it to the final NRC.

The BJP said that it is a misleading statement. “NRC update is being updated at the directive of the Supreme Court of India. We all hope that Assam will get a correct NRC free from names of foreigners and including the names of all genuine Indians residing in the State. If the name of any genuine Indian fails to make it to the final NRC because of an error or otherwise, he/she will have every right to claim for inclusion of his/her name in the citizens’ register.”
