BJP forms Cachar Zila Parishad

Silchar: Amitabh Rai, brother of district BJP president Kaushik Rai, has been elected as the new president of Cachar Zila Parishad while Lovely Chakraborty as the new vice-president. The oath taking ceremony took place on Thursday at the conference hall of Cachar Zila Parishad. In the recently concluded panchayat polls, BJP has finished on a winning note by capturing won 16 ZP seats and thus formed Cachar Zila Parishad.

The newly formed board of Cachar Zila Parishad was ceremoniously administered the oath of office and secrecy. Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajib Roy, who is officiating as the Deputy Commissioner administered the oath to the 27-member board led by Amitabh Rai as the president and Lovely Chakraborty as the vice president.

Speaking at the occasion, former Union Minister Kabindra Purakayastha congratulated the new board and urged upon them to work towards achieving and scaling new heights of growth and development at the Panchayat level. In his speech, new board president Amitabh Rai assured that the team would strive hard to implement the schemes meant for the people in the rural areas.
