BJP gears up for poll campaign in Bordumsa

BORDUMSA: The State president of Arunachal Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party Tapir Gao as a part of his ongoing seven days of official tour programme to Tirap-Changlang-Longding (TCL) districts would address party workers here on January 24 at Singpho Heritage Centre at Bordumsa in Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh. Tara Tarak the State secretary BJP would accompany Gao during the entire programme.

Gao who has been on his official tour since January 19 addressed BJP workers at Ninu village in Longding District followed by Panduria and Thinsa in Tirap districts. The visit of party State president, who was also the member of the 14th Lok Sabha representing the Arunachal Eastern Constituency of Arunachal Pradesh , ahead of the forthcoming Assembly election probably coinciding with the Lok Sabha election might have been designed to serve the two-fold objectives of consolidating the party base in TCL and driving simultaneously to secure popular support from the voters to get himself re-elected as the MP from the concerned jurisdiction.

Gao has been reportedly working on an effective format to secure all 60 Assembly seats for the BJP beside putting up himself as one of the candidates from the Eastern Seat for the Lok Sabha.

Amidst high anti-incumbency factors in some of the BJP and others ruled constituencies in Changlang District on one hand and sharp split among the saffron brigade on leadership issues in Bordumsa in particular on the other, it would be noteworthy here to see how the president appeases the highly ambitious dissident groups to invade the NPP seat protected by a heavyweight leader like Nikh Kamin — the present NPP MLA of 49th Bordumsa –Diyun with Singpho leaders like Lajala and several others acting as his shield. However, Gao’s visit to Bordumsa — a sensitive and complicated seat that too is ahead of Assembly election has been viewed differently by saffron leaders of various camps from their own political perspective in respect to their candidatures for forth coming assembly election.

CC Singpho, Mayong Maio and Jawra Maio all hailing from the Singpho community are seen justifying their respective candidatures much contrary to the expectations of the Singppho community which demands of a single candidate.

Another in the row is Dana Takyo a retired government employee who has been a relative of the Singpho community building all confidence of winning the seat from BJP tickets while Somlung Mossang another grass root politician known for his political wisdom and charity works is equally confident of conquering the seat irrespective of party ticket. Ironically, without disclosing the party he would represent, Mossang during an informal meet said ‘building a popular consensus with sound mandate and not the ticket is the basic and pre-requisite element for any intending candidate.
