BJP MP Defends Party Worker’s Act of Washing His feet and Drinking that Water, Cites References from Hindu Mythology

New Delhi: In a blatant display of power-politics, a BJP worker was seen in a viral video while he was washing the feet of BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and later drinking the same water as a mark of his allegiance and loyalty to the BJP leader.

What is more shocking into the matter is that the MP later went on to defend the actions of his party worker by citing examples from the ancient Hindu scriptures where Lord Krishna washed Sudama’s feet and is a justified as an act of extreme love and respect.

On Sunday, a BJP party worker was seen washing the feet of BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and then drinking that water in Jharkhand and a video of this act has attracted much criticism and is doing the rounds in the Social Media.

“Even Krishna washed Sudama’s feet in Mahabharata,” Dubey said adding that someday even he would get a chance to wash the feet of “people like Pavan,” The MP said while defending himself against the criticisms.

“It is because of the love and support of people like him that I am alive today,” he added.

Interestingly, on the other hand, Pavan, the BJP worker who washed Dubey’s feet said the incident should not be politicized.

Reportedly, justifying his act he said, “What crime did I commit if I washed his feet and drank the water? It was my sentiment. He is like my elder brother,” he said, adding he will file a case against all those slandering him.

It may be mentioned that the video was shot during Dubey’s visit to his constituency Godda in Jharkhand to announce the building of a new bridge.

The now viral video shows MP Dubey stepping down from the stage after making the announcement and walking up to Pavan, the BJP party worker. Later he steps on a brass plate, and his feet are washed Pavan Sah, who lifts the plate and drinks the same water as the crowd rejoices his act as if it was a heroic one.

Meanwhile, the opposition Congress clung on to the issue and demanded the BJP MP’s resignation over the incident. The Congress has termed the incident as sheer arrogance and that such leaders are habitual offenders who insult others.
