BJP names candidates for Lok Sabha, Assembly polls

Itanagar: The ruling BJP in Arunachal Pradesh has re-nominated Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju as the party’s candidate to contest from the Arunachal West Parliamentary seat.

The party central election committee on Thursday announced the list of Lok Sabha candidates along with nominees for remaining six Assembly seats in the State which is going to simultaneous Parliamentary and Assembly polls on April 11.

The party also fielded its State unit president Tapir Gao as the candidate from the Arunachal East parliamentary seat.

The nominees of remaining six Assembly constituencies include, Assembly Speaker Tenzin Norbu Thongdok from Kalaktang constituency, IPR Minister Bamang Felix (Nyapin) and former MLA Kipa Babu from the prestigious Itanagar constituency.

The party also nominated three more newcomers including Tana Hali Tara from Doimukh seat, Thaji Gichak Kiogi (Tali) and Anong Perme from Mariang Geku constituency. This time, the BJP in the State has fielded 18 new faces and three female candidates.
