BJP tom-toms government’s achievements

Dibrugarh, June 29: State Spokesperson of BJP, Pabitra Margherita held a conference recently to brief on the progress made by Assam under the four-year rule of BJP at the Centre and two-year rule of the party in the State. Speaking to the gathering, he mentioned about the strict anti-corruption measures being implemented by the State government, and the arrest of 74 corrupt government officers in that direction. He highlighted certain other development projects undertaken by the government, including construction of a new airport terminus at Barjhar, installation of a gas pipeline covering a stretch from Guwahati to Tinsukia, double-track railway line and electrification of trains, while shedding light on the Dhan Puraskar Scheme, under which bank accounts were opened for the tea garden labourers in the wake of demonetization.

He, at the same time, informed of the government’s arrangement to give out interest-free crop and farmer loans, and stated that around 8 lakh soil health cards were distributed in the financial year 2017-2018. Touching upon the subject of food security, the BJP spokesperson said that around 21, 900 hectares of farm land had been brought under the National Food Security Mission during the last financial year. He also added that a total number of 21,841 road construction projects were undertaken by the government in the financial year 2016-2017. The conference was also attended by the president of the Dibrugarh District Committee of BJP, Indra Gogoi.
