Bongaigaon, Feb 2:  A blast on Wednesday night in Khatlapara area under Basugaon PS of Chirang district has created panic all over the district.

The incident occurred in the house of Nityanda Biswas, a labourer by profession. Nityanda Biswas said that at about 10 pm on Wednesday night, a bomb blast took place just outside the wall of his house. “The wall of my house is made of wood and bamboo and it was damaged because of the blast. But thankfully, no one was seriously injured. My wife and I sustained minor injuries. Our neighbour arrived in the house just after the blast. Somebody informed the police and the police also arrived later,” he said.

Sankarbrata Rai Medhi, Superintendent of Police of Chirang, said that it was a crude bomb. “We used bomb squad of Army and confirmed that it was a crude bomb. We think somebody must have thrown it there. As per our investigation, we have not found any kind of involvement of any terrorist group here. I think this happened because of some personnel clash. Our investigation is on and we will reach to the conclusion soon,” he said.

Another bomb was found in this house two months ago. Local people alleged that police had not given much importance at that time which resulted in this incident.
