Dimakuchi, June 26: Along with the rest of the world, Hattigor TE medical and welfare wing organized a blood donation camp on Monay. Laying stress on this year’s theme for World Blood Donor Day, Senior Manager Pran Pratim Bhattacharjya of Hattigor TE called blood donors the real heroes of society. “The act of blood donation is an act of solidarity, partnership, collective conscience, empathy and respect for mankind,” he said. He said there was an urgent need to carry the movement forward by every individual, community and society as a whole.

Speaking on the occasion, the senior manager said, “Blood donors are providing yeoman service to the society, and it is our prime responsibility to encourage the donors. Blood has neither religion nor caste, and that is why a person who is in need of blood never inquires whose blood he or she has taken.” “There are many districts in Assam where there is no donor organization and unless more and more donor organizations come forward, hundred per cent voluntary blood donation will remain a distant reality,” Ranjit Tanti, Principal of BSES said.

Tanti added that at every blood donation camp held on the district level, an official from the district administration must be present. He also requested the authorities to increase the fund for organizing voluntary blood donation camps. The senior manager inaugurated the event and was the first donor at the camp.
