Kokrajhar: BPF president Hagrama Mohilary and the president of the ABSU, Promod Boro on Thursday traded charges against each other on different issues to woo voters. Mohilary attended an election campaign meeting at Jharbari, Salakati and Duramari while ABSU president Promod Boro attended an election meeting at Bengtol in Chirang district. Besides them, the president of Boro Women Justice Forum (BWJF), Anjali Daimary attended the meeting of UPPL at Jolaishree in Kokrajhar and Bengtol in Chirang district.

Addressing the gathering, BPF supremo Hagrama Mohilary said his party had been working for the development of all communities in the region. He said Jharbari area lacked proper road connectivity, bridges, hospital, water supply, electricity and other basic facilities but after BTC formation, the much-neglected area had seen the fast pace of development. He also said his administration would distribute land pattas to the forest villages of Jharbari area and the process was going on already. He further said the ABSU and NDFB (P) could not distribute land pattas to the villagers as they claimed, only BPF would do it.

Mohilary said ABSU and NDFB (P) had been misleading the people in the name of Bodoland movement but their real intention was quite different. He said his party would move to include the six communities in the ST list and also claimed that the BPF was not against the Bodoland statehood demand.

Meanwhile, ABSU president Promod Boro, while addressing a public gathering at Bengtol in Chirang district, said that the people of the region wanted solution of all basic problems and establishment of permanent peace after the formation of BTC but it had failed to fulfil their aspirations. He said the people of the region wanted a new change for meaningful growth and development and so the ABSU and other movement groups had supported UPPL candidate UG Brahma for positive change in the society.

On the other hand, BWJF president Anjali Daimary said that BPF supremo Hagrama Mohilary had been degrading the status of Boro women. She also said that the people of the region needed a responsible person with ability, compassion and broad vision like UG Brahma.
