BPF to go together with BJP in upcoming Panchayat election

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 4: Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has decided to work together and stand together with the BJP during the forthcoming Panchayat election to grab the power in the grassroots level.

The decision was taken in the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) held at Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar on Saturday. The meeting discussed several issues and strategy of the party. Besides, the party discussed the celebration of Bodoland Day to be held on February 10.

 The president of the BPF, Hagrama Mohilary, who is also the chief of the BTC, chaired the CWC meeting of the party and where various issues were discussed. He said that the 15th Bodoland Day would be celebrated with pomp and gaiety on February 10. He said at least 50,000 people and party workers will attend the celebration. The meeting discussed over the upcoming panchayat election and decided to work together with the BJP under Gauripur, Kalaigaon and Bijni constituencies in Assam. He also said the alliance with the BJP would be continued.

 In the meeting, a minority cell was formed with a view for development for the minority communities in the region. Ajijur Huque Sheik and Mominul Islam have been appointed as chairman and convener of the cell.

 Mohilary said that the stage was set to celebrate the 15th Bodoland Day on February 10 where Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal would be present as chief guest.
