BSF organizes blood donation camp in SGH

Shillong, June 3: The Border Security Force (BJP) organized a blood donation camp in Dobasipara village in South Garo Hills District recently. The border guards are living to its expectation of winning the hearts of the local populace by organizing such public outreach programmes to save lives of the local population, residing in areas near the international border.

The camp was organized under the aegis of Composite Hospital SHQ BSF Tura, 20 Bn BSF and in association with Badminton Association of Tura.

The camp was organized with the assistance of doctors of Civil Hospital Tura, Staff and pathologist of Blood bank Tura.

Dr. Balamurugan, CMO 20 Bn BSF, Tultul K Sangma (GDMO) and Raikhan Thothanhor (GDMO) 75 Bn assisted the blood bank staff in smooth conduct of the blood donation camp.

During the camp, officers, subordinate officers and other ranks of various units under Sector Headquarter Tura such as 20, 75, 93 Bns donated their blood. Around 82 BSF personnel donated their blood.

The response of the general population of the area was very positive and they were happy and thankful to BSF for extending the social services at their door steps. The BSF has recently organized a series of medical camps at bordering areas to help needy persons.

“In future more such blood donation camps will be organized at international Border of South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills and West Garo Hills District of Meghalaya,” U K Nayal, DIG-cum-PRO of Meghalaya Frontier, said. This has been stated in a press release.
