BTC announces cash award and incentive for meritorious students

KOKRAJHAR, June 21: The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has announced cash award and incentives to the meritorious students of BTC areas to inspire the students.

The Director of Education, BTC, Rabi Shankar Borgoyary said the council had taken some significant steps for the development of education. As part of this steps, the education department of BTC will provide Rs. 2 lakh to each position holder in the HSLC and HSSLC examition, Rs 2 lakh to each student who gets admission in IIT, IIM and medical colleges, Rs. 1 lakh to each student who gets admission in NIT and Rs 1 lakh to each student pursuing Ph.D. Besides, the council will provide Rs. 10,000 to Rs 15,000 to students who secure 75 per cent to 84 per cent and 85 per cent and above in the HSLC and CBSE respectively, Scooty to 100 girl students of BPL families pursuing degree course who secure 60 per cent and above in the Class XII exam, both council and CBSE, and whose houses are 15 km away from college, Rs 3 lakh to each of 25 selected intending candidates to join UPSC coaching and Rs. 1 lakh for student who qualify in UPSC prelimiry examition and prepare for main examition.

Meanwhile, the Bodoland Students’ Union (BSU) has hailed the decision taken by the BTC administration, Department of Education for announcing cash award and incentives to the meritorious students of the BTC areas. In a press statement, the education secretary of the BSU, Khwrwmdao Brahma said such initiative would further encourage the students from the backward region of BTC to dream big in the future.
