BTC is integral part of Assam: Mohilary

MANGALDAI, April 9: “The BTC is within the state of Assam, an integral part of Assam and will always remain within Assam. The overall development of the State will be complete only if the pace of the development activities in the four districts of the BTAD, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts can be expedited along with other districts of Assam,” said BTC chief and the president of BPF, Hagrama Mohilary while addressing a largely attended meeting of party workers at Khairabari in Udalguri district on Monday.
He made this assurance while taking part in the open session of the 4th triennial conference of Bhergaon District Committee of BPF-cum-Youth Festival organized with a three-day long colourful programme on April 7, April 8 and April 9. He also made it clear that the functioning of the administration and governce in the BTC was based on the rules and acts ected by the Government of India and Assam Government and the BTC had no authority to ect new land policy and as per the existing rules and regulations, the BTC was functioning with 40 transferred departments.
Reiterating the commitment of the BTC government, the BTC chief further said that as per the discussion with Axam Xahitya Xabha, the BTC had already decided to establish four Language Research Centres in four districts of the BTAD. Similarly, as per the request of the general secretary of ULFA, Anup Chetia, the BTC had also decided to sanction an amount of Rs 1 lakh each to the next of kin of the ‘martyrs’ of ULFA living in the areas of the BTAD.
 Considering the need for offering the scope of representation in the Council Legislative Assembly to the non-Bodo community living in the BTAD, the BTC authority as per discussion with the leaders of AASU, has taken up the initiative for creation of more Council Legislative Assembly Constituencies and it is expected that additiol 40 seats could be created. With a view to take the feedback, suggestions and opinion on the functioning of the BTC government from all sections of the society living in the BTAD areas, he himself would attend public interactive meetings in different places of the BTAD and he requested all to attend such citizen committee meetings with suggestions and opinions only to strengthen the functioning of the BTC government with the input.
Regarding the problems related to the land revenue matters of the BTC being faced by the people living in the BTAD areas, the BTC chief has also decided to organize meetings in every revenue circle of the BTAD inviting all organizations and leading citizens where he would persolly interact with the citizens.
