Budget session to start from today

SHILLONG, March 8: The budget session of the Meghalaya Assembly is going to start from Monday.  The first day of the budget session will begin by the Governor’s address. The 13-day session which ends on March 25 will have nine days of government business and four days of private members business. The budget will be presented on March 18 by Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma who holds the fince portfolio. The budget session will, however be without Garo tiol Council (GNC) legislator from Chokpot, Clifford Marak (68) who passed away on March 1, at a Guwahati hospital. The opposition would raise the issue of the GHADC extension as well as the events unfolding in the KHADC in the upcoming session.  The other issues to be raised by the opposition are the law and order situation in Garo hills region despite the peace pact with ANVC-ANVC-B groups.
