Burglars Arrested with Stolen Goods at Joysagar in Assam

Joysagar, July 25: Rupak Kakoti (42) and two other associates were arrested on Wednesday from Salaguri area under Joysagar PS on charges of burglary. Rupak and two of his associates had allegedly looted the house of former Assam Police DIG KK Sarmah in Guwahati. Following the former DIG’s FIR, a team of Guwahati City Police arrived in Joysagar and with the help of Joysagar Police, finally nabbed the accused. Rupak Kakoti is an inhabitant of Salaguri village under Joysagar PS and he was a homeguard deputed in the house of the former DIG. During police interrogation, Rupak admitted that he and his associates had looted valuables, including expensive jewellery from the former DIG’s house on July 21 and the next morning they secretly returned to Sivasagar. The police team also recovered all the stolen goods from their possession.
