Businessman Abducted, Rs 1 Crore Ransom Demanded

Bokajan: Panic has gripped the family members of Chandan Kumar Singh who was reportedly abducted from outside his work premises on Friday evening. The businessman runs a chain of brick kilns in the subdivision and is believed to have been kidnapped while he was returning from a brick kiln at Deopani along the Golaghat-Karbi Anglong border.

The incident came to light after Chandan’s family received a ransom call from the abductors demanding Rs 1 crore for the safe release of Chandan early Saturday morning. Chandan’s Vitara Breeza car has also not been traced since the incident. Police have launched a massive manhunt to trace Chandan but are yet to make any headway. The abductors are reportedly using Chandan’s mobile phone for negotiating his safe release.
