C-DAC Kolkata to hold workshop at NIT Silchar

Silchar, Feb 23: C-DAC Kolkata is going to organize a two-day workshop on Speech Technology Solutions for North Eastern States of India (STeSNE) 2017 at NIT Silchar from today which will conclude next day. This was informed by Alak Dey, administration, on behalf Joyonto Basu, Convener, C-DAC Kolkata. Media has been invited to give a coverage of the proceedings of the two day first of its kind workshop. This will be organized in close coordition between NIT Silchar and C-DAC. It will be iugurated at 9:45 am at Guest House Audiorium of the NIT.

Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, (CDAC) is an R and D Organization under MeitY, Government of India, and having 11 centers spread across the country. C-DAC, Kolkata is the Eastern and CDAC Silchar is the North Eastern hub of R and D within C-DAC family. R and D in speech and language processing is one of our identified thrust areas under multi lingual computing. CDAC, Kolkata is working in the area of Speech processing for more than last one decade. Over this period of time, Speech Corpora, Text to Speech synthesis systems in Bengali, Nepali and Mizo, Bengali phoneme standards, semi-automatic data transcription tool, agricultural and travel domain speech recognition systems, text independent speaker recognition systems have been developed as part of different R and D activities under MeitY and northeast funding.
