Cabinet approves VRS for Cherra Cement employees

SHILLONG, June 7: The Meghalaya cabinet today approved the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) to the employees of the Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited (MCCL). According to the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, as many as 145 out of 445 employees of the state-owned public sector unit have opted for VRS. Dr Sangma informed that the government has approved an amount of Rs 22.3 crore to facilitate the VRS of the employees. “Out of this certain amount has been released and the balance amount would be subsequently released,” Dr Sangma said.
