Cachar Cancer Hospital and Tata Trusts up for fighting cancer

Silchar, March 14: The Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (CCHRC), Silchar, in collaboration with the Tata Trusts and tiol Cancer Grid embarked on a 'Cruise against Cancer', a pan North East India Cancer awareness bike rally 'Beat Cancer: Run and Ride 2018' from District Sports Association ground of Silchar on Monday morning. Brigadier S K Jaini of the Indian Army flagged off the run in which 700 participants from Indian Army, Silchar Thumpers Enfield Club, BSF, C-DAC, Assam Rifles, media-persons and staffs of CCHRC took an active part. The 11 day bike rally will continue till March 22, covering all the seven sisters.

The colourful rally termited in the premises of CCHRC where at a simple function, Dr Ravi Kann, director of the hospital said, "The run has been organized in the cities to make people aware of cancer and also to create awareness to fight the disease." The bike ride will be held in all the 7 states in northeast region, covering a distance of 2200 km. The places at which the 5 km run will be organized include Silchar, from where it started today, Shillong, Guwahati, Tezpur, Itagar, Dibrugarh, Kohima, Imphal, Aizwal and Agartala. More than, 300 to 400 people are expected to participate in each rally.
