Cachar gears up for World Environment Day

Silchar: In a bid to observe World Environment Day in a meaningful and purposeful way, the Department of Forests and Environment, My Government Assam has taken special steps this year. As a part of the event, a drive for clean and green village will be taken up in all the constituencies of the State. To streamline the project, a meeting was held at the conference hall of the DRDA office on Monday.

The meeting was presided over by Amitabh Rai, the new president of Cachar Zila Parishad. In the meeting, Deputy CEO of the Parishad informed that one village from each constituency of the district has been selected to be made a clean and green village.

As a part of the drive, Kalinjar from Silchar block, Salganga from Udharbond Darmikhal in Dholai, Borthol in Lakhipur Gangapur in Borkhola Tukurgram in Katigorah constituencies have been included for the facelift. The drive will be carried out from February 23 in the presence of officials of My Government Assam, representatives of local MLAs, Forest Department officials and brand ambassadors of Forests and Environment and Agriculture departments.
