Capacity-Building Programme Underway at IIE

GUWAHATI, Sept 8: A four-day capacity building programme on entrepreneurship development being organized by the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Regional Centre Chandigarh was inaugurated on September 17 at the IIE, Guwahati premises. The programme has been intended to benefit the national youth volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan.

As many as 28 youths from Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Darang, Nagaon and Morigaon districts have been participating in the programme. The objective of the programme is to identify and enhance the potential and to hone the entrepreneur skills of the participants and to provide them a comprehensive understanding of entrepreneurship and its potential in generating employment and poverty elevation.

The programme is also emphasized to provide the participants information about available government policies and schemes to support start-ups and to enable them to implement the activities and strategies learnt from the workshop in their own groups as well as communities.

IIE, Guwahati Director Dr Abhijit Sharma while delivering his inaugural address focused on the need of entrepreneurial initiative and he also suggested that change comes with disruption of an old idea, ideology or technology. He also motivated the participants to come up with new and innovative ideas and take up entrepreneurship as a career option.

During the inaugural function, RGNIYD Training Associate Sheela Sharama gave a brief introduction of RGNIYD and also discussed how the problems of unemployment and underemployment hamper the growth of the young generation. She also described the need of entrepreneurship development in present day context and also highlighted the role of RGNIYD in this concern.

Achintya Kumar Baruah, Course Director gave a brief note on the distinctive role of IIE on entrepreneurship development. He also emphasized that the programme would equip the participants with skills and tools required for starting their own enterprise and will also help the participants to disseminate knowledge the to their neighborhood and community.

The valedictory function will be held on September 20.
