Car lifter in cop’s net, stolen vehicle recovered

Batadrava, Feb 2: Batadrava police arrested a car lifter identified as Ismail Ali, son of Jaj Miyan of Kachuwa and recovered a stolen vehicle and a master key from his possession.

 As per police sources, a TATA Xenon (goods carrier) bearing registration number ASO1 GC 2414 was stolen from Kadamani on January 29. Mohhamad Shajid, the owner of the vehicle, reported the matter to police on January 30 and a case under FIR number 16/17 under Section 379 IPC was registered at police station Batadrava and investigation started.

During the course of investigation, the police team led by Rajib Baruah, Officer in-charge of Batadrava Police Station, bbed the car lifter Ismail Ali from Kachuwa Ramani Pathar on Wednesday and on his disclosure, the stolen vehicle was recovered from Manja, Karbi Anglong. Police also seized a Santro car bearing registration no. AS 01 S  0345 from his possession. Meanwhile, the police produced the car lifter in gaon Court on Thursday and the court sent Ismail to three days police custody.
