Centery celebration of school concludes

GAURISAGAR, March 11: The 58 No. Alimur Miri LP School, one of the oldest educatiol institutions in greater Dikhowmukh area established in 1904, has completed glorious 111 years. On the eve of its 100 year completion, the school authority and local people organized a year-long centery celebration. The closing function of the centery celebration was held at Bayu Miri (Mili) Kshetra recently.

The three-day long programme started within hoisting of flag by Bhaba Jyoti Dutta, president, reception committee. The symbolic 111 flags were hoisted by various distinguished persolities.  The smriti tarpan was performed by Cheniram Tayung, noted social worker of Jui. Later the Gangai Mili Memorial main entrance of the school was iugurated by Manik Dutta, retired Headmaster of the school. The door of the book fair was iugurated by Thanu Bharali, president of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Dikhowmukh Branch. The door of the exhibition was iugurated by Munin Jyoti Taye, an alumnus of the school. On this occasion a bostra mela was held, social worker Rekhamoni Taye formally iugurated it. Thereafter, the Bhigumuni  Kagyung Memorial Kavi Sanmilan was held. Ujjal Paogam iugurated it. The Kavi Sanmilan was conducted by Premo Gogoi, former president of Axom Kavi Sanmilan. Many poets recited their poems.

On the second day a colourful possession was taken out throughout the locality. Social worker Lachit  Mili flagged  it off. Later a symposium was held on the topic ‘The environment of child education rural economy and role of environment’.  Under the chairmanship of Raghuth Kagyung, Professor and Head of the Assamese Department, Sori College, Dr. Debrabrat Sarmah, chief editor of Asomiya Jatiyo Abhidhan, Dipak Kr. Doley, Associate Professor, DCB Girls’ College, Jorhat and Mrili Kagayung, Associate Professor, NN Saikia College, Titabor graced the symposium as appointed speakers. The symposium was iugurated by Susil Suri, Professor and Head department of History, Sori College. In the evening the alumni meet was held. At night the   Baneswar Mili Memorial Cultural night was held.

On the concluding day an open session was held under the chairmanship of Phanidhar Tahu, former Principal, Ujani Majuli Kherkatia College. Noted litterateur and cultural activist Ismile Hussain took part as chief  orator. The dignitaries who attended the open session were Kulendra Das, DEEO, Sivasagar, Raghuth Kagyung, jouranlist Chakrapani Parasor, Krish Tanti, BEEO, Demow Elementary Education Block and Rantu Gogoi, general secretary, Sivasagar Zila Madyamik Sikshak Santha. The open session was formally iugurated by Arpan Kr. Baruah, Professor, Sori College. On this occasion a souvenir Alimur was published and it was released  by Phanidhar Tahu. In the meeting Dikhowor Dutupal Barusun, a poetry book edited by Arunima Kagayung and Ankurjyoti Kagayung was also released by Kulendru Das.
