LAKHIMPUR, May 16: Mising community is the second largest indigenous community of Assam. The people of this community are spreading to a large area covering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh as the representatives of various dynasties have expressed their identity with particular surname. Such a dynasty belonging to this community is the Taku which is known as Mising Taku in Assam and Adi Taku in Arunachal Pradesh. The people of this dynasty constituted the central committee of the All Assam Mising Taku A:pen at a public meeting in the presence of representatives from Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Majuli, Jorhat and Golaghat at Shantipur Murang Ghar of Ghagarmukh Taku village under Bhimpora Gaon Panchayat of Dhakuakhona Legislative Assembly Constituency on May 12.

A 22-member delegation of Adi Taku of Arunachal, comprising of Dr Worar Taku, Dr. Oten Taku, Principal Tangom Taku, executive engineers Nyong Paloh Taku, Tai Paloh Taku, Miten Taku and LDC Obiyan Taku participated in the meeting. Convener of the meeting, Sonaram Taku chaired the event while the general secretary of the convener committee, Phanidhar Taku explained the objectives.

Various aspects of the people of the dynasty, including their socio-economic, academic, moral and financial developments, were discussed by the speakers of the meeting with detailed explanation. At the end of the meeting, a 31-member central committee of the Mising Taku A:pen was constituted selecting Dilip Taku as president and Sanjib Taku as general secretary.

General secretary Sanjib Taku through a press release informed that the maiden executive meeting of the organization would be held at Maghuachuk-Bakula of Bebejia In Lakhimpur on June 10.
