Cess collection of ASAMB increases to 35.87 percent

MANGALDAI, Feb 6: The Assam State Agricultural Marketing Board (ASAMB) during the first year tenure of the BJP-led State Government has been able to achieve remarkable success in collection of cess from agricultural products from different cess collection centres in the State.

Talking to The Sentinel, Chief Executive Officer of ASAMB, Padma th Das said that the ASAMB in the period from the month of April, 2015 to January, 2016 had collected a total amount of Rs. 45.33 crore as cess, but in the period from April, 2016 to January, 2017 the ASAMB collected a total amount of Rs. 61.59 crore with the increase of 35.87 per cent.

The cess collection centre at GB point in Guwahati had collected an amount of Rs. 6.03 crore in the period from April, 2015 to January, 2016. But the total collection of cess in the period from April, 2016 to January, 2017 is Rs. 10.84 crore with the rate of increase of cess collection at Rs 4.81 crore with 79.71 per cent.  Significantly, the inter-State check gate at Boxirhat also collected an increased amount of Rs. 6.08 crore in this period while the check gate at Sri Rampore also collected an increased amount of Rs. 1.25 crore in this period. According to the CEO of ASAMB, Padma th Das, the cess collection centre at BG point at Jorhat also collected an increased amount of Rs. 2.72 crore with the rate of increase at 73.74 per cent.
