Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday called upon the legislators of the State to change their mindset in their style of functioning for progress and development of the State. “If we go with our old style of functioning in governance, we will have to face a tough situation in the future. We must change our attitude and need to work with ‘Team Arunachal’ spirit for development,” Khandu said while addressing the 33rd Statehood Day celebration at Indira Gandhi Park here.

He said the lawmakers need to go for a new reformation with proper planning so that developmental efforts of the government could reach the people. Stating that it would not be a difficult task for the government to carry out developmental work with a population of only 14 lakh, Khandu pointed out that the onus lies on proper planning and execution of work with judicious utilisation of development funds so that Arunachal with huge potential, could emerge as a developed State in the country.

“In the 33 years of journey, the State has witnessed many ups and downs. Years of negligence have put the ‘underdeveloped’ tag on the State which started getting importance only after 2014 when NDA government came to power at the Centre,” the Chief Minister said.

“The State needs team spirit which is the only mantra for development,” Khandu said and appealed to the people to support the government in its crusade against corruption.

He said after he took the reign of the state, his efforts were to bring changes in the administration by initiating several reform measures.

“With the efforts of ‘Team Arunachal’, my government was able to reduce corruption to a certain extent with decentralizing the planning process at the Deputy Commissioner level,” the Chief Minister added.
