Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Announces Rs 20 Lakh To Martyr’s Family

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has announced Rs 20 lakh to the family of martyr Maneswar Basumatary on Friday. Meanwhile, the Governor and the Chief Minister have in separate statements condemned the attack and offered condolences to members of the bereaved family.

While condemning the attack, Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi condemned the attack. Prof. Mukhi said that the country stands united to tackle any exigency. He also said that the country is pained by the loss of lives of the martyrs and maintained that every conscientious citizen must condemn this heinous crime and express their indignation tooth and nail against terrorism.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also said that such dastardly acts would not be able to shake the morale of the Indian security forces. Paying deep tributes to the martyred soldiers, Sonowal wished for the speedy recovery of those who got injured in the incident.

The Chief Minister also said that Basumatary’s sacrifice in the line of duty would be remembered by the whole nation. His martyrdom would keep inspiring all those engaged in protecting the country and make the fight against terrorism more intensified, he added.
