LAKHIMPUR: "In the forthcoming parliamentary election, people's mandate will be in favour of BJP and its alliance parties. Our party will secure majority seats of the Lower House in the election and the people of the nation will make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister of India for the second consecutive term for the sake of comprehensive development," said Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Lakhimpur on Monday.

The Chief Minister arrived in Lakhimpur on Monday along with State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley to accompany sitting MP Pradan Baruah as he filed his nomination for Lakhimpur HPC as BJP candidate.

After completing the due process, Sonowal told media persons, "We are confident that the people of Assam will cast their franchise in favour of candidates of the BJP and its alliance parties. It has become crystal clear with the huge gathering of people who have come to encourage our candidate. This has been possible only because of the developmental activities implemented by the Narendra Modi-led Union Government and our State Government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done in five years what the Congress could not do in 60 years."
