Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal urges students to contribute  in development process of State

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal took part in a felicitation programme of meritorious students of Majuli district who secured 75% or above marks in the recently declared results of HSLC and Higher Secondary Examination today. Altogether 226 meritorious students were felicitated in the programme which was held at Kamalabari Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal urged the students to strive for knowledge and contribute in the development process of the state. Stating positive mindset as an essential quality for overcoming challenges, Chief Minister Sonowal advised the students to work with honesty, integrity and hard work to achieve success in life.

Further underlining the rich potential of Majuli and its art and culture, Chief Minister Sonowal urged the students to take forward the message of social cohesiveness of the district to the world.

Stating that science and technology have brought revolutionary changes in the world, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the new generation has to engage in scientific discourse and develop their skill as well as ability to cope with the changing scenario.

Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya also spoke on the occasion and urged the students to study hard with sincerity to be successful in life. Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami, MLA Bimal Bora, Deputy Commissioner Deva Prasad Mishra, Vice Chancellor of Majuli Cultural University Dr. Dambarudhar Nath along with host of other dignitaries were present in the programme.

Earlier, Chief Minister Sonowal also attended Anuxuchita Jati Samaroh and Sati Radhika Diwas organised by Majuli District SC Students Union at Majuli College playground, Dariyapar.

While addressing the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the State government has taken up a number of welfare initiatives to ensure social and economic security of the scheduled caste people in the state. He also informed that the state government would build a Memorial Park at Majuli in a bid to keep alive the ideals of Sati Radhika.

Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami, MLAs Bimal Bora and Debananda Hazarika, Deputy Commissioner Deva Prasad Mishra, Vice Chancellor of Majuli Cultural University Dr. Dambarudhar Nath were also present in the programme, stated a press release.
