Tezpur, June 24: In a venture of the district administration to prevent child labour, the Sonitpur Labour Department, along with District Child Protection Unit , Sonitpur, with the help of Chariduar Police, rescued a minor working in a house from Chariduar area in Sonitpur district. While taking to this correspondent, Harshajyoti Phukan, Child Protection Officer said, based on specific information, a joint team of the Labour Department, Chariduar Police and Child Welfare Committee, led by Jagannath Pokhrel, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Sonitpur, raided the house of Hitendra Phukan, Chief Manager of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Tezpur zone at Chariduar Power Grid Corporation campus under Chariduar PS in Sonitpur district on Saturday, and rescued a minor engaged as domestic help. Phukan further added that the boy was an inhabitant of Rampur area in Lakhimpur district. He was handed over to Softseed, Tezpur for his rehabilitation, said Phukan.
