Citizens' meet held to discuss civic problems in lbari town

LBARI, May 24: The Pragatikami garik Manch organized a citizens’ meeting on Saturday at lbari tya Mandir to discuss the various problems of lbari town like artificial flood during rainy season and garbage problem.

The citizens’ meeting was presided over by Ram Charan Tamuli, the president of Pragatikami garik Manch while Dr Jayanta Das, the working president of the Manch, highlighted the problems of lbari town. Dr Das, while highlighting the effort of the district administration, said that Dr Om Prakash, lbari Deputy Commissioner, adopted the initiative to clean lbari town during his tenure. He appealed to the people to keep the town clean.

Dr Om Prakash, who attended the meeting as special guest, expressed concern over the indifferent attitude of people to the problem of garbage disposal and stressed making the environment pollution free. He urged people not to throw garbage in front of their houses and stressed constituting as many as 12 committees in separate 12 wards to take the responsibility of their respective wards. Veteran litterateur and critic Sashi Sarma expressed satisfaction over the positive steps of the administration to develop the town and highlighted the ‘indifferent’ attitude of government towards the Government lbari Gaurdon HS School campus.

BM Rajkhowa, SP lbari, while speaking in the meeting also highlighted traffic guidelines. He also appealed to people of lbari to cooperate with the police administration for peace and discipline.

People from 12 municipal wards of the town then spoke about the different problems of their wards.
