Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 is against the interest of the people of the region: Nagma Morarji

Kaliabor: Bollywood Actress turned politician cum General Secretary for All India Mahila Congress General Secretary Nagma Morarji on Tuesday campaigned for sitting MP for Kaliabor Lok Sabha Constituency Gaurav Gogoi.

Nagma Morarji also addressed a Meet and also participated in a Roadshow for Former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi's son Gaurav Gogoi from Rangamati to Kaziranga.

It is to be noted that Gaurav Gogoi is also the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge in West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar islands.

Speaking to the media, All India Mahila Congress General Secretary said, "I am sure that sitting MP Gaurav Gogoi will win the Kaliabor parliamentary seat with the majority. I also believe that MP Gaurav Gogoi is one of the leading faces of the youth of Assam and I wish him to see as the Chief Minister of the state one day. MP Gaurav Gogoi is very vocal about the issues of Assam and he is the best MP from Kaliabor Lok Sabha Constituency."

Also, speaking about the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 is against the interest of the people of the region. "We are not supporting this bill, People of Assam should understand this, we the Congress will be fighting for the people of the region. With the NYAY scheme, 20% of the poor family of the country would be benefitted with Rs 72,000 per year which is indeed a great initiative by our party," added Nagma Morarji.

Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the actress turned politician Nagma also alleged him to have fooled the nation with his fake promises. "Bharatiya Janata Party has got no proper objective and are engaged in communal activities like building of Ram Temple and abolition of Article 370 in Kashmir if they are voted to power once again. They are engaged in distributing the certificate of Nationalism which is not necessary. BJP is trying to change the Constitution of India and snatch away the fundamental rights of the people," Nagma added further.
