NAGAON, June 28: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi in most election rallies in Assam just ahead of the parliamentary election in 2014 declared that soon after May 16, 2014, all illegal Bangladeshi migrants must get ready with bag and baggage to leave Assam. But soon after coming to power, the same Modi conspired against the indigenous peoples and went to dig the protective drainage to save the so-called Bangladeshi illegal migrants,” president of All Assam Journalists’ Union (AAJU) Pankaj Kumar Nath said in Nagaon on Wednesday while addressing a citizens’ meet against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 held at the conference hall of Renaissance Junior College and organized by the district units of AAJU, Nagaon and Hojai jointly.

Nath said the Bill was nothing but a fatal conspiracy against the greater Assamese community and its language and also a big threat to the existence of the indigenous people of the State. He criticized Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for his role in this matter. Atula Madhav Goswami and Dugdho Kalita spoke in the meet.
