Citizenship (Amendment) Bill: No protest or gathering within the periphery of the varsity

Silchar: Assam University, Silchar in the past week witnessed mass protest both in support and favour of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. It is in this regard the University has come up with a strict order. The order has been issued by the Register of Assam University.

It has been stated that any assemble or procession or dharna or any sort of gathering of people or group of people within the periphery of the University campus without prior approval of the authority is hereby strictly prohibited until further order.

The said order further stated that any unauthorized reporting, if found, henceforth, will be treated as violation of public order and the person or persons involved in such violation will be held responsible as per rules. The order was issued with the approval of the Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar.
