Ten-year-old girl commits suicide

GUWAHATI, April 3: A ten-year-old girl committed suicide this morning at Kamakhya Colony in the Pandu area in Guwahati, sending a sensation in the area. Both the parents of the girl are daily-wage earners and none of them was at home when the incident occurred. A rumour is doing the rounds that the girl had to take such a step following punishment to her by a shopkeeper for stealing a chocolate from his shop. Jalukbari police, however, said that they have not received any such complaint.

Two arrested, in jail

GUWAHATI, April 3: The police arrested two persons and recovered cash and valuables like gold orments from them at Carbon Gate No. 1 at Mathgharia in Guwahati on Monday night. A case (168/18) has been filed against the duo at Noonmati police. They are in judicial custody.

Four apprehended

GUWAHATI, April 3: Khetri police apprehended four persons along with a dumper (ML11/4666) laden with coal suspected to be stolen and a Gypsy (ML 4C/4666) on Tuesday. The four have been identified as Iso Suwer of Khlihriat West, Banjied Lapasam of Khlihriat West, Hahunbait Shylla of Pyrtaku and Andrew Kro of Rongjangphong of Hamren. They are being interrogated.
